Studio History

I began teaching music in 2003 in various music schools, public schools and a house I was renting in Vancouver under the business name Peace Through Music. When I moved into my own home in NE Portland in December 2017, I knew it was time to revamp my business and dedicate a special space to music education and fun. This inspired me to create Bloom Music Studio.

Bloom Music Studio is a lively and colorful space I created on the lower level of my home in the summer of 2018. The tour begins with a trips down the rainbow staircase, which the kids think is pretty cool. On one end of the studio is a triangular stage with lights along the front, allowing the students to gain stage experience as well as providing a convenient space for recital performances.

I chose the name Bloom because of what I have seen in the children during my teaching career. Every child has blossomed through the study of music, not just as musicians, but as more confident and thoughtful young people. I instill hard work, patience, thoughtfulness and fun in all of my lessons. We learn to read music, ear training, music theory and performance skills. In my world every child is a star every time they play.
